From the first glimpse of its impressive neo-classical west façade as you approach along Beech Drive, it’s clear that the history of Luton Hoo reflects a kaleidoscope of different historical eras and architectural tastes. Given that there has been a house on this site since at least 1601, it comes as no surprise to learn that Luton Hoo has a colourful, occasionally chequered past – and is directly associated with at least three British monarchs and indirectly linked with three more.
How to get there
By Road
- Leave M1 at Junction 10 signposted Luton Airport.
- Drive along dual carriageway to Kidney Wood roundabout (Junction 10a of M1).
- Take third exit (London Road) A1081 signposted for Harpenden.
- Continue along road for approximately 1/2 mile and then turn left into entrance of Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf & Spa.
By Rail
- Luton Parkway Station is situated a 5 minute taxi ride away and is served by First Capital Connect with a frequent 30 minute service into the City of London.
- The new International Terminal Link – St Pancras serving the Eurostar route is scheduled to open in Autumn 2007.
