Founded in 1898 by the famous architect Fitzroy Dolls, this splendid Victorian style hotel is situated within the historic area of Bloomsbury. Hotel Russell, the oldest purpose built hotel in London, boasts a magnificant collaboration of Victorian and Germans Rennaissance architecture originally created as a grand hotel for the company White Star Line, the owners of the infamous Titanic and previous owners of the Ritz and Brown Hotels of London.
This opulant terracotta property accommodates 373 en-suite bedrooms ranging from traditional and contemporary standard single, double and twin rooms to Ambassador Suites and newly introduced high tech design Contemporary Deluxe rooms, featuring plasma screen television and jet-stream showers in cutting-edge style bathrooms.
Conference and Banqueting facilities are second to none and provide both modern and traditional stylish air-conditioned suites, many boasting natural daylight. The Woburn suite seating up to 450 theatre style, offers state-of-the-art lighting, sound and presentation facilities. The Wharncliffe, adjacent to the Woburn will seat up to 350 guests for dinner dances. This suite is also extremely popular for Wedding receptions. The Wharncliffe also offers a private foyer with dedicated off street entrance. Additionally, there are 15 superb meeting rooms from 8 – 90 delegates, including a business centre. The Library, traditionally wooden panelled is ideal for intimate dinners and has original fireplace and stained glass window.
The Kings Bar creates a haven of peace and comfort and a “club” atmosphere whilst Fitzroy Dolls is a charming restaurant offering fine dining and discreet service.
We have undergone a refurbishment programme whereby we have invested approximately £23 million in the property, refurbishing 225 of our bedrooms, and restoring and updating public areas and conference suites.
