The Brewery, London

On Friday 2nd of November 2007, The Venue Team took the opportunity of visiting The Brewery in Central London for the first time. After facing many transport issues, including a train strike, we finally arrived and the hassle of getting there suddenly seemed worth it. Once in London, getting to The Brewery was incredibly easy and involved only a couple of stops on the tube, our final destination being Moorgate. This came as a massive relief to us as our journey to London on that particular evening had been nothing short of a nightmare.

The Brewery itself is an amazing venue, and is nothing like the “typical” conference and event venue that one might expect. The Brewery, from the outside is a stunning Grade II listed building but inside the venue is modern and exudes a certain understated elegance. The listed beams, exposed brickwork and artistic metal sculptures are features which definitely add to The Brewerys charm.

As you walk into the main reception there is a small area off to the left where guests can wait to be greeted by staff and an impressive plasma screen detailing the events that are taking place that day. It even had a page on the screen named “The Venue Team - Site Visit” which, I must admit, does make you feel quite special.

The largest room at The Brewery is The Porter Tun; this room is renowned for being one of the largest unobstructed rooms in London. It has a maximum capacity of 900 people for a drinks reception and 700 people fora gala dinner or awards ceremony. The room has a large raised balcony, a timber roof and beautiful wooden flooring. All the rooms have mood lighting which dramatically transforms the blank canvas space into a beautiful setting for any kind of event.

All the rooms at The Brewery interlink and as such the rooms can be hired out individually or the smaller rooms can be used in conjunction with the larger rooms for catering and breakout areas. This kind of layout means that The Brewery works as an incredibly flexible event space.

Whilst I have mainly focused this review so far on the special events side of the industry such as dinners, fashion shows, parties and drinks receptions, The Brewery is also a great venue for a conference. The Brewery has a couple of smaller rooms including The Queen Charlotte and The James Watt, which are ideal if you are looking for a unique venue as opposed to a Hotel to hold a conference or meeting.

All in all The Brewery is a fantastic venue with millions of possibilities for a whole range of events. The venue has a dedicated team who are willing to provide the best in service and products which is a sure guarantee that any event being held at The Brewery will be a massive success.
