Macdonald Frimley Hall Hotel & Spa

On the weekend of 15th and 16th September the Venue Team went on a site visit to Macdonald hotels Frimley Hall and Berystede Hotel and Spa. Everyone on the trip thoroughly enjoyed themselves and the hotels. Frimley Hall was built in 1882 and has a lot of history. During the Second World War the hall was used as a base by the British army. It is also a listed building and even has listed wallpaper! The hotel has been modernised but still has all its old characteristics like the wooden staircase and high ceilings. The Gym and Spa looked top class at both Frimley and Berystede.

Arriving at about 7pm we were taken straight to our rooms where we were introduced to these magnificent rooms full of brilliant features such as flat screen TV’s, king size beds and even a little bear. We went back downstairs and all had a drink and met some of the hotel staff, then went on a show around where we saw the different types of rooms, the gym and spa, the gardens and conference rooms. There was a wedding reception ongoing when we got there so we couldn’t see the wedding suites. We then went to dinner where we would confront 6 gourmet style courses. All of the courses were delicious, especially the plate of chocolate which was to everyone’s liking.

We then spent the night team building near the bar!

Macdonald Berystede Hotel & Spa

In the morning we rose to beautiful weather and the perfect Saturday for going to local attractions such as Thorpe Park. The Berystede and Frimley are very popular whenever there’s an event at Ascot Racecourse because they are the nearest 4 and 5 star hotels. It was even used as a court of justice during the Second World War.

First of all was a show around and brunch at the Berystede Hotel and Spa. We had arrived at the Berystede straight from Frimley Hall so they had a lot to live up to but they pulled it off. Brunch was delicious and a good start to a fantastic day. We were then shown around by the conference manager, we saw all the different types of room which all seemed top class. We were then shown the spa and gym where a few of us would be spending the day. That looked fantastic especially the swimming pool and outside Jacuzzi.

The Berystede has its own conference section; to get there you have to go round the back or through the hotel down 2 flights of stairs. The conference centre has its own reception and own entrance and car park for guests. The conference rooms are very nice and there’s a break out area that’s good in size for breaks during conferences.

Most of us then enjoyed the rest of the day at Thorpe Park going home in the evening feeling down because our homes are not up to the same standard and our rooms dont have the same cleanliness.

We will remember both venues for months to come and recommending them to a lot of people because of their high standards. I know ill be going back in the near future!!
